SMLI is a non-profit science activity center that has been providing science education to Long Island since 1962. Our programs are designed to stimulate children's interest in science through hands-on learning. Allowing them to experience the fun and excitement of scientific discovery. Generations of children have benefited from SMLI's unique approach to science education. The 36-acre Leeds Pond Preserve offers SMLI participants unique access to a natural laboratory and helps foster a greater understanding and respect for the environment and natural world. Its pond, marine edge, woodlands and more contain a wide variety of plant & animal life and serve as the springboard for our environmental and conservation programs. Our programs span a wide variety of options, including school field trips, outreach programs, after-school workshops, holiday workshops, summer camp, weekend family workshops, girl/cub scout programs, birthday parties and more!
