With spring turning into summer in Port Washington, Manhasset and Roslyn, it's time to embrace the freshness of the season by eating local. From pick-your-own farms where you can create unforgettable memories (and great photos!) with your little ones, to CSAs offering a bounty of seasonal delights and local farmers markets ... there are plenty of ways to eat fresh in our area! 

By choosing locally grown produce, you're not only treating your taste buds, but also supporting sustainable agriculture and the hardworking farmers in the Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

Pick-Your-Own (PYO) Farms in Suffolk County

It's no surprise there are zero PYO farms in neighboring NYC and that Nassau does not really have many options either. Thankfully, within an hour drive we find ourselves in lovely Suffolk County where you can enjoy the experience of picking your own fruits and vegetables straight from the fields. 

Keep in mind typical dates for PYO are: Strawberries in June, Blueberries in July; Peaches from Middle of July through the middle of September, Tomatoes, Peppers, Eggplant in late August through late October, Apples from late August through late October, Pumpkins from the end of September through October, and Christmas trees from day after Thanksgiving to Christmas

Farmers Markets in the Port Washington, Manhasset and Roslyn area 

Port Washington, Manhasset and Roslyn's farmers markets are a great place to spend the morning browsing fresh produce, locally-produced artisanal goods, and much more. Here's where to find farmer's markets in our area:


Port Washington Farmers' Market 

Located in the Town Dock you will find produce, fresh bread, local honey and other essentials.  

Details: Saturdays, beginning June 8 from 8 am to 12 pm until the end of October, rain or shine

Roslyn Farmers' Market

Whole Foods in Manhasset has organic and labelled produce that usually tells you where is is sourced from.
